Massage Services
Below is a description of the bodywork modalities I specialize in. Every client’s needs are unique and each session is often a blend of multiple modalities blended together throughout.
Whole-body massage emphasizing flowing strokes, including kneading, friction, and percussion, with light to medium pressure; emphasizes whole body relaxation; uses oil or lotion with client draped on a table
Deep Tissue (Cross Friction) Massage
Slower massage focused on deeper muscle layers and specific issues using muscle warming, sharper hand techniques, and additional tools (i.e. knuckles, forearm, elbows); uses oil or lotion with client draped on a table
Slow, methodical massage used on specific muscle bellies and tendons to release chronic tension, improve postural deviations, and increase range-of-motion; uses no lubrication with client draped on a table
Techniques vary depending on individual’s performance goals. Includes massage for pre-event, post-event, maintenance, and recovery; may use oil or lotion with client clothed or draped on a table or floor mat
Eastern-based massage modality focused on energy balance and harmony using point work, pressure, percussion, and stretches; uses no lubrication with client clothed on a floor mat or table
IASTM
(Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
Tool assisted myofascial work utilizing different pressures and pacing to manipulate neuro-sensory responses through the skin to the brain to up-regulate or down-regulate neural activity, to break down densified tissue, and reduce pain and tension; uses little or no lubrication with client clothed or draped on a floor mat or table
Includes the use of aromatic essential oils blended into topical skin lubricants or diffused into the air in a mist and focused on specific needs, including relaxation, stimulation, and mental focus (to name a few of many)
